Supporting charitable causes is something that Penn Elcom takes great pride in. For many charities, local initiatives and other good causes, we like to tailor our support into something more tangible and futureproof to help evolve their project. We recently supplied HQI with a range of racking products to support their Sounds Like Hammersmith and Fulham arts programme, including a 37U R4066 rack enclosure, sliding rack shelves, rack drawers, rack panels, power distribution units and some custom leads.

This new and free programme developed by HQI, gives young musicians and artists aged 18-25 the skills and experience needed to springboard into the creative industries. It combines a 10-month development programme for up to 15 local residents with a series of public masterclasses open to all, featuring industry pioneers including musician Mykki Blanco, film composer Seb Gainsborough (The Northman), electronic musician Gaika, co-founder of the Manchester Collective Rakhi Singh, and Spike Art Magazine editor Dean Kissick.

The final grant winners have access to HQI’s music and video editing studios and art studio space. The contact with creative infrastructure, resources and mind-expanding conceptual thinkers is a lifeline to young artists working within the precarious financial conditions of the city.

Penn Elcom’s products are helping HQI to deliver the Audio-Visual aspects of their public talks and workshops programme with access to AV racks, power and associated peripherals which allows HQI to host their events in a highly professional way, improving the experience for all events. Sounds like Hammersmith & Fulham is funded by a Cultural Impact Award as part of the Mayor of London’s London Borough of Culture programme, and we were excited to offer our support and products to help more young people increase their knowledge and opportunities within the industry.
