I saw you mentioned that this will work without the rear rack mountings but this will reduce the load capacity - by how much? I'm considering using this for effect pedals which all told would be probably less that a total of 10 pounds. Thanks!

What keeps it from sliding out during transport? Any type of locking mechanism? Latch?
